Rolling Hills Rally and Corn Roast 2005

Four balloons stayed home for the Rolling Hills Rally and Corn Roast instead of heading to Grande Prairie for the Canadian Championships. Connie and Andy (Double Diamond), Ralph Dowson (Happiness Is), Jack, Shelagh and Bill (Cap'n Hook and Mr. Smee) and myself (Steve, Blue Ice) had a great weekend out in Rolling Hills. Flights took place Friday evening, Saturday morning, Sunday morning and Sunday evening. The company was great the weather was sunny and warm and the food was outstanding. The corn on Saturday evening was done to perfection. I think Jack has the Cameron Corn Roasting System down to a science now!

The Sunday morning task was a bagel toss at the bridge that crosses the Bow River near Hays.  I think Ralph won that event with a toss from about 2,000 feet up and won the task but then again I don't think anyone else even threw their bagels. Connie landed before the bridge and Bill and I were having too much fun with the cows and the river valley to get over to the bridge.

The highlight for the weekend was the Sunday evening flight where Andy and Bill performed the longest balloon kiss in history. Their balloons flew for almost 30 minutes in side to side contact with one another. At one point they even rotated around one another in a sort of balloon waltz. We're all waiting for the orange babies in nine months.

The coveted Rolling Hills Rally Trophy was taken home by Bill, AGAIN! Some day I'll screw up big enough to get this one. Let's see, I've left my clothes at home, lost the key to the trailer and blew the bearings out of the trailer wheels but I've yet to win this prestigious award. I guess I'll just have to try harder!

I won't tell you what Bill did to win the trophy but let's just say he's acting like a movie star and leaving all the dirty work to others!
Ask Susan about her new number obsession! Who new Susan was an obsessive compulsive.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so have a look at the rest of the weekend below thanks to Ralph. Great pictures Ralph!

If your ever in Brooks and need to rent some equipment make sure you talk to Mike at BRK Rentals on the main drag as he was a huge help in getting the Club Trailer back on the road after an unfortunate wheel bearing incident on the weekend. Thanks Mike!

Thanks Jack and Shelagh, we had a great time! We're looking forward to next year already. Very Happy
